About the Role
GPM drives the planning and execution of global drug development programs and provides the transparent and unbiased program information the organization needs to make optimal portfolio decisions. GPM associates enable the cross-functional Global Program Teams (GPTs) to deliver the pipeline with optimal strategies, realistic planning, and seamless execution.
As a member of the GPT, you will maintain accurate plans, documentation, forecasts, ensure efficient day-to-day operation of the GPT, resolve program issues, and facilitate alignment across sub-teams and functions. Additionally, you will lead or enable cross-functional strategy discussions and project plan scenario generation, proactively identify, track and manage project risks, ensure GPT effectiveness, and support the creation of executive communication about your projects.
Major responsibilities:
- Partner with the Global Program Head (GPH), Global Program Executive Director (GPED) where applicable, and GPT to drive the development of the program/project strategy into a realistic Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
- Generate and maintain high-quality key program/project level documents, including accurate development plans and financial forecasts in the planning system. This involves liaising with and challenging partner functions to ensure realistic planning that reflects the program/project strategy.
- Drive the preparation and compilation of comprehensive strategic documents and presentations for governance boards and program/project tollgates in collaboration with the GPH, GPED and GPT.
- Proactively identify, track, and manage project risks and issues, and propose mitigation strategies with the GPT.
- Ensure effective GPT meetings, dynamics, performance prioritization, and communication.
- Lead timely executive communication of program/project status, risks, and issues horizontally and vertically in a proactive, transparent, and timely manner as required by the organization
- Partner with the GPH and GPED to enable a high-performing team culture based on the Novartis values and behaviors, the expertise and contributions of the GPT members, shared responsibility, and the coordination of work towards a common goal.
- Demonstrates behavioral core competencies of proactivity, resilience, personal integrity, commitment to excellence, critical/analytical thinking, courage and creativity, agility and influence.
- May manage external partnership/collaborations in conjunction with Alliance Management, the GPH and GPED (as applicable)
- Along with Finance, assemble and monitor financial forecasts and address variances.
Minimum requirements:
- Masters or Doctorate in life sciences (or MBA with bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in life science) and 10+ years pharma industry experience.
- 5+ years or equivalent multi-/cross functional leadership experience
- Expert knowledge in drug development process
- Excellent / program management skills
- Expert in communication and information management
- Leadership presence with the ability to present and interact with senior management
- Functional Breadth and Strategy Development.
- Project Management and program management experience and skills.
