Major Accountabilities
- Accountable for the performance of the project team, developing the overall project plan per given deliverables and targets and managing the team’s performance of project tasks.
- Aligns overall project strategy and deliverables with key business stakeholders and cross-functional management at senior level
- Establishes and leads senior project team and serves as the point of contact for Novartis project governance and provides escalations to key business stakeholders and cross-functional management at senior level.
- Performs risk management and develops contingency plans for the project.
- Builds sufficient and capable organization through course of project to ensure resources are available to meet project requirements as well as resource plan to transition resources effectively from project to commercial operations.
- Ensures compliance readiness for regulatory inspections & audits, together with Quality organization.
- Sets-up and manages project in accordance with project budget, schedule and quality requirements, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations of procurement and accounting.
- Ensures resulting unit costs of the products manufactured at the new facility are within targets.
- Sustains acceptable standards of product/process quality, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and Security in the interest of legal compliance, competitive advantage and community relation
- Work in close cooperation with Commercial Operations in the S&OP Process to efficiently launch products from new facility.
- Collaborates closely with existing large molecule DS sites to transfer successfully technology to the manufacturing sites.
- Acts with a high level of collaboration and investment in key relationships with other manufacturing units / platforms, SC, MS&T, Engineering, Quality, P&O, Finance to assure compliance and a high degree of alignment and performance.
- Coach, mentor and lead the facility organization ensuring appropriate organizational structure and levels of accountability to achieve rapid decision-making, streamlined and efficient execution of business strategy.
- Champions the Novartis Values & Behaviors and acts as a role-model of leadership that fosters an inclusive and high performing culture which develops capability and talents.

- Number of associates: 4-8 direct reports, Total organization 75 - 125
- Financial responsibility: Deliver supply of products achieving sales of USD $5-7 bn
- Impact on the organization: High (interruption of supply, particularly of core products, could cause significant impact on the performance & reputation of the entire Business and Novartis)
Ideal Background
Education:
- Academic Degree level required as a minimum (Graduate in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy or Engineering to B.Sc. level, MBA)
Languages:
- English fluent
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in senior Manufacturing, Technical Operations and Supply Chain Management roles in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
- Proven leadership and change management experience and prior success in building and managing teams
- Possesses the ability to work in a global, networked environment
- Strong cultural/intercultural awareness
- Experience with large molecule drug substance preferred
- Experience building and leading site organizations from capital project design/construction through commercialization preferred
Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary
The salary for this position is expected to range between $160,300 and $297,700/year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon
joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors. Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards. US-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a variety of other benefits. In addition, employees are eligible for a generous time off package including vacation, personal days, holidays and other leaves.
