About the Role

Position Location: Emeryville, CA, onsite #LI-onsite
We are looking for an enthusiastic, curious, and highly motivated individual with experience in bioanalytical mass spectrometry and MALDI imaging mass spectrometry to join our Analytical Chemistry group in Emeryville, CA. As an analytical expert you will play a key role in advancing our cutting-edge research and drug discovery programs as well as driving the evaluation and implementation of innovative technologies. This role involves collaboration with scientists and project teams across disease areas.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaboration across Biomedical Research sites on the application of MALDI Imaging MS technology for drug discovery support
- Lead design and execution of drug and metabolite tissue distribution experiments using MALDI Imaging MS in support of small molecule drug discovery
- Conduct LC-MS assays for plasma and tissue quantitation in support of PK and PK/PD studies
- Perform tissue cryo-sectioning and MALDI sample preparation
- Implementation of state-of-the-art MS systems for data acquisition and analysis
- Develop methods to evaluate the tissue distribution of new modalities including RNA therapeutics, protein degraders, and antibody drug conjugates
- Data interpretation, report preparation and presentation of results to discovery project teams
- Effectively manage timelines and work closely with team members and customers in an international setting
- Promote innovative technologies and cross-disciplinary research to enhance the group’s analytical capabilities
Essential Requirements:
- Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with a minimum of 2+ years of postgraduate experience
- Experience using analytical chemistry technologies including mass spectrometry
- Experience in quantitative analysis in biological matrices using mass spectrometry
- Experience with tissue cryo-sectioning, MALDI sample preparation, and imaging data analysis
- Critical and creative problem-solving skills with independent thinking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work effectively on matrix teams
The salary for this position is expected to range between $103,600 and $192,400 per year.
The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
