Step into a leadership role where innovation meets purpose. As Director of Data Science Products, you’ll drive the adoption of open-source tools that transform clinical trial reporting across Novartis. You’ll lead a strategic team focused on building scalable, high-impact solutions that empower clinical analysts and elevate reporting standards. With a strong focus on agile development, collaboration, and modernization, this role offers the opportunity to shape the future of data science in pharma—while fostering open-source engagement across the industry.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development of open-source products supporting clinical trial design and analysis in a GxP environment 
  • Oversee product lifecycle, balancing enhancements, maintenance, and compliance priorities 
  • Champion agile, user-centric development with iterative delivery and transparent prioritization 
  • Establish robust testing frameworks to ensure product quality and reliability 
  • Coach and mentor product teams, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement 
  • Break down complex challenges into actionable steps for systematic progress 
  • Shape strategic roadmaps in partnership with senior leadership 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative or computational science (e.g. computer science, statistics, mathematics) 
  • 10+ years developing scalable analytics solutions using open-source languages that deliver business value 
  • 5+ years leading product management for statistical or analytical tools using agile methodologies 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to mentor and inspire cross-functional teams 
  • Proven experience analyzing product KPIs to drive continuous improvement and user engagement 
  • - Expert-level proficiency in R and Python with deep understanding of software development best practices 

Desirable Requirements: 

  • Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, statistical analysis, and regulatory submission requirements 
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects in the pharmaceutical sector, especially in R, Julia, or Python
