Join us as a Senior Expert in Business Data Science, where data meets impact. In this strategic role, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics, automation, and visualization solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the full PSM scope and business processes, such as TRD Biologics & CGT resource management, portfolio planning and management (drug and non-drug), budget planning and management, technical development planning, cycle time monitoring, and external partner management.
You’ll also drive the effective use of enterprise applications tailored to TRD Biologics & CGT needs, helping us unlock new levels of efficiency, transparency, and insight.
About the Role
Key responsibilities:
- Lead development of advanced analytics, automation, and visualization solutions to support decision-making across PSM.
- Translate complex business needs into integrated analytical approaches developing and utilizing new algorithms, methods, statistical models.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and dashboards for TRD Biologics & CGT business processes.
- Implement novel algorithms and data science methods to generate actionable insights.
- Evaluate, implement, and manage digital tools and platforms to support PSM processes and operations.
- Represent PSM in data product and data governance meetings.
- Ensure adherence to data lifecycle principles and promote data quality and compliance.
- Communicate insights through impactful visualizations and strategic narratives.
- Support leadership with scenario modeling and strategic recommendations.
- Coach junior data scientists and contribute to capability building within TRD Biologics & CGT and PSM.
Essential Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in data science, including 5 years in life sciences or pharmaceutical R&D.
- Proven experience managing enterprise applications and analytics platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Spotfire).
- Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, and data engineering.
- Robust experience with digital tools, data visualization, and AI-driven analytics.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills to translate technical concepts into business-relevant insights.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment.
- Experience with large-scale organizational change and working across all levels of an organization.
- Expertise in data governance, data lifecycle, and master data management.
Novartis Austria is one of the most modern and innovative manufacturing sites in the Novartis network. The sites in Tirol have approximately 3,500 employees and there are approximately 350 employees in the marketing & sales office in Vienna.
The site in Tirol is in the middle of the Austrian Alps with excellent infrastructure.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 65.605,54/year (on a full-time basis).In most cases, the actual salary will be higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications, and individual competencies.
