The Negotiation Manager is accountable and also responsible for contract and budget negotiations in clinical trials conducted by SSO with dedicated focus on establishing strong and reliable customer relationships. Negotiations embrace trial and account specific budget as well as contract template creation and establishment of master level agreements. The negotiation manager is also responsible for supporting and implementing a holistic negotiation strategy. Negotiation Manager´s role is a project management position with holistic and strategic innovative [future oriented] approach to shape and develop strategic future handling of administrative topics with academic and also preferred sites in clinical trials.

About the Role

Major Accountabilities

  • Acts strategic and as  single point of contact for dedicated accounts (academic sites as well as preferred sites) for contract template and budget negotiation including related activities
  • Close interaction with SPM, SSU CRA and SSO Finance Team to ensure high quality standard, evolve potential options regarding contract creation and payment mode and also develop accounts into a preferred account
  • Development of strategies to interact with external business partners with ERC Team as well as GDD Legal Counsel
  • Establishing and building up a trustful, reliable and sustainable relationship with dedicated accounts
  • Strategic development of accounts regarding collaboration in clinical trials (contract models, budget topics and also business development of operational excellence at the sites)
  • Develop strategies to remove administrative hurdles in order to speed up study start on account or country level e.g. confidentiality agreement, CDA, budget topics
  • Operational execution of negotiation outcome e.g. adaption of budget agreements to site master data file
  • Establish database with site specific details to offer site details to SSO personnel to pick “best” sites to conduct clinical trials (smart start up, e.g. full digital signature)
  • Address ideas of system and process improvement to Line Manager
  • Give input to overall holistic negotiation strategy (budget as well as contracts)
  • Guidance and supervising of CS regarding negotiation topics
  • Optional additional tasks: negotiation, updating and optimize of existing contracting templates to site templates in close interaction with sites, legal department, , control and if needed escalation of contracting issues according to escalation process, maintenance of knowledge-base, interaction with medical departments to share insight in SSO operations and share best practice and also development of profound knowledge base of budget as well as contract relevant topics in new therapies being developed in clinical trials (e.g. CAR-T or radiation therapy)


Work Experience

  • Bachelors degree in economics or science, sales representative experience welcome
  • At least 3 years’ experience  as contract negotiator or in similar role, preferably in legal or pharmaceutical field
  • Demonstrates collaboration and communication skills, empathetic attitude with strong customer focus
  • Passionate about digital systems and willingness to foster digital evolution
  • Ability to think out-of-the-box and open minded attitude towards structures and processes
  • Excellent coordination and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated and fully dedicated
  • Works in a highly structured way
  • Profound knowledge of MS Office Products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and German
