Major Accountabilities
- Support the development and maintenance of data ingestion and integration pipelines for analytics and reporting use cases.
- Assist in implementing data quality checks, validations, and monitoring using defined business and technical rules across the data lifecycle.
- Contribute to automation of recurring data preparation, reconciliation, and quality validation tasks.
- Develop and enhance data pipelines using Python and SQL under supervision, following established coding and quality standards.
- Support CI/CD processes for data pipelines, including testing, version control, and documentation.
- Collaborate with senior data engineers, data quality analysts, solution architects, and vendors to understand data solutions and best practices.
- Apply foundational data management concepts such as data modelling, harmonization, reference data usage, and standard definitions.
- Help maintain metadata, data lineage, and documentation to improve data discoverability, transparency, and reuse.
- Follow established data governance, privacy, security, and FAIR data principles as applicable to assigned projects.
- Participate in requirement‑gathering discussions and feasibility assessments with guidance, with attention to data quality and compliance considerations.
- Support end users and analytics teams by responding to data‑related queries and helping with basic data quality issue investigation.
- Actively learn enterprise data platforms, data quality frameworks, governance processes, and life‑sciences data concepts through on‑the‑job training.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or final‑year student converting from internship) in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, academic projects, or hands‑on training in data, analytics, software development, or data management.
- Basic programming knowledge in Python and/or SQL.
- Familiarity with relational databases and fundamental data concepts, including data quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency).
- Exposure to cloud platforms, data engineering tools, data quality tools, or analytics tools through coursework or internships is a plus.
- Willingness to learn data engineering best practices, data governance concepts, DevOps basics, and cloud‑based data integration.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile ways of working (basic level).
- Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, global environment.
