About the Role

Internal job title: Research Scientist
Location: Emeryville, CA
Please note: This is a short-term contract assignment, not to exceed 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and run new biochemical and cellular assays to support drug discovery efforts
- Troubleshoot assays with minimal input from supervisor
- Conduct mechanism of action studies
- Liaise with various functions such as Protein Sciences and Medicinal Chemistry
- Work with external collaborators and contract research organizations
- Present findings at internal scientific meetings
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Extensive mammalian cell culture and molecular biology experience required
- Ability to implement standard operating procedure (SOP) with minimal/no assistance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to give presentations
- Critical reading of scientific journals and independently comes up with new SOP
- Assist in new standard operating procedure (SOP) preparation and implementation
- Highly collaborative within the team and across disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in drug discovery industrial setting
- Assay development experience
