As a Data Scientist in Advanced Quantitative Sciences, you’ll build open-source tools and interactive dashboards that streamline data workflows, modernize reporting, and elevate user experience across Analytics. Your contributions will shape how Novartis leverages data science to drive innovation and improve patient outcomes.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain R packages to support clinical trial data workflows and reporting
- Build and deploy Shiny applications for interactive dashboards and data exploration
- Deliver demos, training, and support to enable tool adoption across Analytics teams
- Collaborate with users to identify opportunities for workflow improvement and modernization
- Promote best practices in data science and software development across the organization
- Document tools and processes to ensure inclusive and scalable modernization
- Engage with open-source communities to share insights and contribute to innovation
Essential Requirements
- Master’s degree in a quantitative or computational science discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience developing in R
- Strong proficiency in data manipulation using tidyverse
- Skilled in data visualization with ggplot2 and plotly
- Proven ability to develop R packages with documentation and testing
- Experience building and deploying Shiny applications
- Familiarity with production deployment of R applications
- Knowledge of software development practices including Git and code review
Desirable Requirements
- Solid understanding of the drug development lifecycle and clinical trial processes
- Familiarity with regulatory standards for computer systems and analytical tools in pharma
