The Senior Manager R&D and Strategy & Growth Internal Audit will plan, execute and deliver high quality audits that meet Novartis Internal Audit (IA) methodology standards, strategies and directives and will lead audit teams in activities including assessment of business/information technology risks and evaluation of related internal controls. You will bring data and measurement centricity to the core of IA processes in alignment with key customers journeys, working with internal and external partners, and rethink current business practices to provide breakthrough value in the space of Internal Audit.
About the Role
• Deliver high quality audit and advisory engagements for R&D and Strategy & Growth, in collaboration with the engagement clients, to foster simplification and enterprise mindset.
• Build effective business partnering relationships with senior management on the audit or advisory engagement and with managers in the relevant functions, while maintaining the independence and objectivity of self, the audit team and the Internal Audit function.
• Identify control issues and simplification opportunities in assigned engagements. Determine in collaboration with the engagement clients the root causes of control issues and investigate, analyse and test possible solutions or measures for improvement in alignment with the enterprise-level simplification framework. Prepare audit reports, review and agree issues with responsible management.
• Establish and maintain key-contact relationships with stakeholders in assigned functional areas of responsibility to support the Audit Director and the Functional Head Internal Audit (FHIA) in assessing risks across the company and developing the annual audit plan.
• Develop and leverage effective use and adoption of evidence based approaches, insights and technologies to multiply the impact, value and performance of IA at the enterprise level.
• Make optimal use of and integrate existing data sources to derive evidence-based risk assessments informing the annual audit plan and the scoping of individual engagements.
• Influence stakeholder thinking and challenge status quo by leveraging experience, observations, industry trends, standard methodologies, leading technologies and process improvement ideas to deliver superior business value.
• Invest in relationship-based partnering to become change agent and build enterprise mindset in teams.
Essential Criteria:
• Solid experience as Internal Auditor.
• Fluent in English: oral and writing
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
Desirable criteria
• Life science industry experience ideally in Pharma.
• Demonstrated Audit experience, particularly in Research & Development, or Strategy & partnering.
• Demonstrable ability to navigate in a matrix environment with excellent understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
• Well-established track record of drug development/analytics functions expertise and organizational savviness.
• Strong relationship building and communication skills, can influence, negotiate with and motivate senior leaders.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills and resilience to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel (up to 15%)
