This position involves overseeing the Downstream Processing Unit at Kundl's new large-scale mammalian cell culture facility. The candidate will lead a production team to ensure GMP compliance, cost-efficient manufacturing, support technology transfers, and improve processes and facilities to meet future needs. About the Role
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the respective manufacturing team and develop an organizational culture in line with Novartis Values and Behaviors
- Manage assigned resources and ensure that production is in line with schedule, performance and budget targets
- Ensure production of drug substance in full compliance with regulatory requirements, GMP / HSE regulations and Novartis policies, procedures and standards
- Act as “Herstellungsleiter” according to AMBO
- Support of continuous improvement and digitalization initiatives as well as CAPEX projects
- Proactively manage risks and implement solutions to identified problems
Essential Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in life science or bioengineering
- Language: English and German fluent
- Experience: 5+ years in biotech industry, preferably in an operational environment
- Quality mindset and good knowledge of GMP regulations
- High learning agility, proactive mindset paired with hands-on and execution attitude with ability to drive change and make things happen
- Excellent People Leadership skills

In addition to a market-competitive base salary, we offer an attractive incentive program, a modern company pension scheme, childcare facilities, learning and development opportunities as well as worldwide career possibilities within the Novartis group. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 78.383,90 / year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications, and individual competencies.
We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
